Social networking is a complete waste of time. It keeps people from having face to face human interaction, and is a distraction from what is going on in the real world. Users of popular social networks put out pictures of themselves and post inappropriate things, then complain about the NSA spying on them.
To me it seems ridiculous for people to complain about their privacy when they don't have enough respect for themselves to not put their personal information online. Social networking has desensitized people, and although new "friendships" are made, the only interaction these people have is over a computer screen, or a mobile phone.
Even when out with friends, someone always wants to take a picture to post on Instagram. It's like the moment can't be enjoyed without it being posted to every one of your followers. Social networking is a cop out for people who are too intimidated or afraid of approaching someone in real life, but when not in person, they have more courage to "friend" a stranger or message them. Social networking has caused more harm than good.
