Many thanks to Dr. Brian Moench and Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment for serving as a voice of reason in a state that seems far too willing to sacrifice human health for the sake of corporate profits.

The Department of Air Quality's decision to grant Holly Refinery permission to double its capacity, and subsequent emissions of toxic substances into our air, is just one more example of our state government's unfortunate short-sightedness when it comes to energy production.

Utah continues to promote toxic industries in our state, rather than developing a long-term strategy that respects and builds upon our unique environment, and protects our people.

This is a remarkably beautiful state that proudly touts its belief in the sanctity of human life. It would be wonderful if our stated beliefs were more clearly reflected in our state government's energy policies.

Thank you, Dr. Moench and UPHE, for your efforts to remind state leaders that human health concerns take precedence over the thirst for profit.
