A car sliding out of control Wednesday afternoon led to a toppled semi trailer and major delays in Utah County.

At about 3:20 p.m., a white northbound car slammed into the right wall on the side of Interstate 15 between Provo and Springville, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Royce said. The car then slide across the freeway and hit the left barriers. As the car was coming to a stop in the middle of the freeway, a semi trailer hauling Xerox copies swerved to miss it and fell over.

Royce said two of the three women in the white car were transported to a hospital non-critical condition. The other woman, as well as the truck driver, were okay, Royce added.

The accident closed all but the far right lane of the freeway. Royce said the delays remained an hour after the accident happened, and would likely continue to plague the road for at least another hour as crews worked to upright the toppled trailer.

Authorities were still trying to figure out what caused the white car to initially hit the first barrier. According to Royce, no citations had immediately been issued, though the incident remained under investigation.
