Police: Kidnappers tie up Utah woman with bungee cord

Three people threatened to kill a woman and left her tied up with bungee cords after robbing her Magna apartment and stealing her truck, police say.

The woman said she was with a friend Nov. 27 in her apartment, near 9100 West and 2700 South, when a woman and two men arrived at her door, police wrote in charges filed Wednesday in 3rd District Court. The victim knew two of them, so she let them in.

An argument began, and one of the men grabbed the victim and put her in the bathroom. The female suspect gave him a knife and told him to "shank the [expletive]," police wrote.

They also threatened to kill the victim's friend, stole his belongings and forced him into the victim's truck outside, police wrote.

At one point, another woman knocked on the door to hear the victim shout, "Whoever it is, call the cops because I am being robbed."

One of the suspects remained to restrain the victim, police wrote. He allegedly punched her in the chest, put her on the bed and used yellow bungee cord to tie her up.

When he went out to the truck, they let the victim's friend go because there wasn't room in the truck for him, police wrote.

The woman later freed herself and saw her truck being driven away.

Officers later found the truck in a Midvale parking lot.

The female suspect and one of the male suspects were charged with two first-degree felony counts of kidnapping and three first-degree felony counts of burglary. The woman also was charged with second-degree felony theft by receiving stolen property.

The third suspect has not been identified.
