One hurt in West Valley City officer-involved shooting

A man was critically injured in an officer-involved shooting Sunday night in West Valley City.

Police say a man was "suspicious" and armed with a knife, KUTV-Channel 2' Christine McCarthy reported in a tweet. A West Valley City officer shot and critically injured the man, McCarthy added.

The shooting was reported near 3200 W. 3500 South around 7:30 p.m.

Police closed the northbound lanes of 3200 West at 3500 South to investigate the scene, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
