Salt Lake City police say it all came to a shocking end for a suspected car thief who apparently didn't want to give up his new ride.

The 18-year-old man, who remained in the Salt Lake County Jail on Monday in lieu of more than $18,000 bail, was stunned with a Taser when he tried to fight off and run from an arresting officer late last Friday morning.

Police say an officer responding to a 911 call about a stolen car spotted the vehicle about 11:20 a.m. Friday, pulled it over at 343 E. Blaine Ave. (1800 South) and approached the driver. The man refused to comply with the officer's orders to exit, resisted physically and finally was stunned.

He was booked on suspicion of charges ranging from second-degree felony possession of a stolen vehicle to misdemeanor counts of drug possession, shoplifting, resisting arrest and failure to stop at the command of a law officer.
