Salt Lake woman chews electrical cord to escape kidnapping

A 27-year-old woman escaped a kidnapping situation by chewing through an electrical cord, Salt Lake City police reported Wednesday.

Police said the woman's boyfriend on Tuesday knocked her unconscious and then tied her with a standard electrical cord to a chest of drawers.

When she came to, she used her teeth, chewed through the cord and fled to a neighbor's home where she called police.

Police arrested her 32-year-old boyfriend on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault and outstanding warrants.
