Logan • Utah State senior center Jarred Shaw is being investigated for possible illegal activity after an incident at a residence near the university last weekend, police said Thursday.
Logan Police Capt. Jeff Curtis said Shaw was among five people police found in the vicinity of the alleged illegal activity, which officers discovered while responding to a call Sunday night.
Shaw was suspended indefinitely by USU coach Stew Morrill on Monday for a violation of team rules.
The investigation is ongoing, Curtis said, adding that the case has been referred it to the Cache County Attorney's Office.
Curtis declined to elaborate on the incident.
Coach Stew Morrill said Wednesday that he was waiting to see where "we're at when the process has run its course."
Shaw is the leading scorer, rebounder and shot-blocker for Utah State. He was a second-team all-conference player for the Aggies last season.
