• "Pupcracker: A Canine Nutcracker," featuring the dogs of Intermoutain Therapy Animals, debuts at the Leona Wagner Black Box theater in the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City. Sister Dottie S. Dixon (a k a Charles Lynn Frost) serves as host. Show starts at 7:30 (and repeats Friday at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.). Tickets, at $18 and $24, available at ArtTix.

• Metal band Devareux performs at The Urban Lounge, 241 S. 500 East, Salt Lake City. Opening acts: User, Cobol. Show starts at 8. Admission is free before 10 p.m.; $5 after 10.

• Southern-inspired honky-tonk band The Fox Street Allstars performs at Gracie's, 326 S. West Temple, Salt Lake City. Show starts at 10. Admission is free.
