College basketball: Utah Valley trounces Haskell Indian Nations, 103-64

Ben Aird scored 20 points and led six players in double-figure scoring as Utah Valley rolled past NAIA Haskell Indian Nations, 103-64 Friday night in Orem.

Utah Valley raced to a 16-4 lead over the first five minutes and held an 18-point advantage at intermission.

Hayes Garrity had 19 points on 6 of 10 shooting off the bench for the Wolverines (5-6). Zach Nelson and Keawe Enos had 16 and 14 points, respectively for Utah Valley while Mitch Bruneel added 12 and Holton Hunsaker, the WAC Player of the Week after scoring 21 points in a loss to Utah State and 14 in a win over Weber State last week, added 11.

Freshman point guard Dillion Thompson scored 15 points off the bench for the Fighting Indians from Lawrence, Kan., with Stand Lovato contributing 14.

The win was UVU's third in three meetings with Haskell Indian Nations.

Women's basketball

Utah Valley 59, Idaho State 56 • In Orem, Rhalah Spooner-Knight scored 21 points, Katie Kuklok added 13, and the Wolverines (2-10) scored the game's final five points to snap a nine-game losing streak. UVU's Georgia Agnew went 3-for-4 at the line down the stretch.
