Three skiers were partially buried in an avalanche at Alta Ski Area in Little Cottonwood Canyon Monday morning, but they were dug out and did not report any injuries.

The slide happened within the boundaries of the resort at about 11:45 a.m., said Alta spokesperson Connie Marshall.

The avalanche was triggered by skiers above the three who ended up in the slide. It occurred in the Spot Slot above the High Traverse area at the resort.

The Collins lift at Alta was shut down following the avalanche, but it opened later in the afternoon.

Marshall said snow safety officials at Alta will continue to monitor conditions and take actions as necessary to protect visitors from other possible avalanches.
