Letter: Parents, try options for adult children's insurance

On Christmas Eve, with full bellies and "A Christmas Story" looping on our TV, we got curious and decided to take a look at the Obamacare website. Our daughter has another year until she turns 26, but we thought we'd take a peek. (Yes, I know, this wasn't the most hopping Christmas Eve party out there.)

Much to our surprise, she found a plan with our same insurance company that costs less than what we are currently paying to keep her on our plan. Not only that, but this new plan has a lower deductible, and includes four free doctor visits a year.

While this hadn't been our intention, she signed up! It took all of 40 minutes.

I want to encourage other parents who are in the same situation and adult children who are still on their parents' insurance to go to healthcare.gov and see if perhaps they, too, can save money.
