Gallons of lard shuts down Utah road

An Orem road is closed after as much as 200 gallons of animal fat spilled on it.
About 3 p.m., a truck carrying the fat was traveling south on U.S. Highway 189 when, for some reason, it unleashed 150 to 200 gallons on the road, said Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Jesse Valenzuela. It spread over about 600 feet of the road near 800 North.
The truck kept on going and troopers are still looking for the driver.
No one was hurt. The copious lard does not pose any environmental hazards either.
UHP expects to keep the road closed until about 6 p.m. The accident is still under investigation.
