Two Salt Lake Valley crashes — one involving a possible mental-health issue — complicated the Monday morning commute, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

Between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., UHP troopers responded to accident scenes on the northbound ramp at 1100 South to Interstate 15, where a truck rolled, and another crash on a ramp leading from westbound I-80 to eastbound Highway 201.

Drivers were urged to avoid the areas for the hour or so it took to clear the wreckage and investigate.

No serious injuries were reported in either of crashes, though the man driving the truck — who reportedly told troopers he heard voices telling him to let go of the wheel — was taken to the hospital for observation, UHP said.
