Letter: Is Swallow worse than legislators, governor?

The guilt laid on John Swallow by state legislators and the governor for taking money from unsavory sources is almost laughable. Where is the red line? What is legal and what is illegal? More important, what money source is respectable and what fails the smell test?

How does Swallow's tainted money compare with Republican legislators snapping up money from gun manufacturers both domestic and foreign, the National Rifle Association, corporations that poison the air, companies that destroy the environment and special interests that detest public education, universal health care and government itself.

And don't forget a governor who had to slip $13 million in hush money to a shafted contractor on a freeway project. Who was more corrupt? What payola generated the most lasting harm for citizens? Their safety? Democracy? All living things? The Earth?

As for John Swallow, the amateur, he should take lessons from the GOP creeps, the real masters of murky morals who helped nail him.
