A weak winter storm was expected to barely dust northern Utah early this weekend, but several mountain benches and passes could nonetheless become treacherous.

The Utah Department of Transportation issued a Road Weather Alert for late Friday through Saturday morning, warning that motorists should slow down and be especially aware of road snow and slush between 3 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.

Specific areas for concern include:

— I-80 over Parleys Summit

— US-40 over Daniels Summit

— Cache Valley

— I-15 north of Brigham City

— Ogden area mountain routes

— Salt Lake Valley

— Utah Valley
