State colleges: USC women beat Utah

The USC women's basketball team defeated Utah 55-47 on Sunday in a Pac-12 game in Los Angeles.

Michelle Plouffe scored 15 points, and Danielle Rodriguez added 11 for the Utes (7-6, 0-2), who lost at UCLA on Friday.

Brianna Barrett scored 17 points, and Cassie Harberts added 16 for USC (10-5, 3-0).

Utah will host fourth-ranked Stanford at 6 p.m. Friday.

Skiing

Utah's Chloe Fausa won the women's giant slalom on the second day of the Pat Miller Invitational at Park City Mountain Resort.

Fausa won the GS with a time of 1 minute, 56.84 seconds, while Denver's Kristine Gjelsten Haugen (1:57.57) placed second, and Westminster's Tonje Sekse (1:58.77) was third. Utah's Kristiina Rove (1:59.03) placed fourth.

Swimming

Utah's Kristian Kron won the 100 backstroke (50.17), 200 back (1:50.13) and 200 IM (1:51.91) as the Ute men beat Arizona State 191-105 in a dual meet. Utah's women team beat ASU 159-137.
