Letter: Let Utah decide, and gays can move

To justify government-sanctioned gay marriages, we must ignore the Judeo-Christian definition of traditional marriage, as well as statistical evidence of superior outcomes for children raised by a mother and a father, the ability to procreate, and most important, the will of the majority of Utah voters.

The only arguments in support of gay marriage are that gays are just following their true feelings, and anyone who does not accept this is a bigot.

By this rationale, there can be no argument against marrying multiple spouses, a sibling, a pet, or an inanimate object. This is not to suggest homosexuality is similar to any of these behaviors. They are completely different — just as homosexuality as fundamentally different from heterosexuality.

But the logic required to accept gay marriage must also include acceptance all of these, including labeling anyone who is offended by the comparison as a bigot.

A more sane approach would be to allow the voters of each state to decide what marriage is. If a gay couple does not agree with the outcome, they are free to form a civil union or move to a state that would endorse their marriage.
