Two days after tumbling from the back of a moving pickup truck, a 16-year-old Clearfield girl remained in critical condition on Wednesday.
However, Clearfield police Assistant Chief Mike Stenquist said the girl's vital signs had stabilized, a positive development.
The girl was sitting on the edge of the truck's bed about 3 p.m. Monday when she lost her balance as the vehicle made a turn near 300 West and 2300 South.
The girl landed on her head. She was flown to University Hospital in Salt Lake City, where she remained on Wednesday.
Another teenage girl in the pickup's bed hung on and did not fall. The vehicle was being driven by a third teenage girl; the accident happened shortly after the trio had left Clearfield High School.
