A 30-year-old Ohio cold case was solved last month when detectives identified a murder victim as a woman from Utah.

Columbus police now believe the body of Sharon Rae Bowen, missing from the Salt Lake City area, was discovered July 2, 1983.

Two fishermen found the body of a woman, which was partially decomposed, on the north side of Hoover Dam, near Blendon Township, Ohio. An autopsy revealed the woman had been strangled, but investigators were unable to identify her for three decades.

The case was solved Dec. 6, when investigators discovered the body belonged to Bowen, according to a police report. The report does not mention how police finally identified the body. Cold case investigators in Ohio could not immediately be reached Thursday night.

Bowen was buried Oct. 27, 1984, in a Columbus cemetery under the name "Mary Rose Doe."
