A dozen F-16 fighter jets from Hill Air Force Base will go to South Korea this month.

The announcement Thursday from the 7th Air Force described the deployment as "routine." The press release said movement of Air Force fighters into the region has been occurring since March 2004 "in order to maintain a prudent deterrent against threats to regional security and stability."

The release did not say when the F-16s would return to Utah. Hill Air Force Base has 48 F-16s flown by the 388th and 419th fighter wings.
