A Roy police officer ran through thick smoke and flames to save a male who could not escape a burning house on his own.
People inside the house near 4000 S. 2000 West evacuated after the fire started about 6:30 p.m. Friday, but one person was not able to get out.
The first officer who arrived at the fire ran in, found the male and carried him out while ammunition in the basement heated up and started going off, the Roy Police Department said in a tweet.
At least one of the residents and the officer suffered smoke inhalation; the officer also had singed the hairs on his head, according to the police. They were both taken to a local hospital.
The house was severely damaged. Investigators have not found what caused the fire yet.
