John Swallow paid $235k in legal fees from campaign • Former Attorney General John Swallow used campaign funds to pay nearly $235,000 in legal fees, staving off multiple investigations into alleged misconduct, which ultimately led to his resignation.

A look at campaign aide who helped elect Swallow, Hatch, Lee • A year ago, Jason Powers was, without question, Utah's top political kingmaker. Powers had amassed an extraordinary winning record, with a hand in getting six of Utah's seven statewide officers elected — including Sen. Orrin Hatch, Sen. Mike Lee and Gov. Gary Herbert — as well as Utah's Senate president and a number of state legislators.

The motorcycle crashed, a son died and a Utah mother's heart broke • The mother had two Christmases with her child — a bright-eyed, curly-haired boy who loved to dance and shoot hoops and cuddle — before he died in a motorcycle crash that broke his father's collarbone and destroyed a family.

Mother shares fears about alleged semen switch at Utah fertility clinic • It stands to reason that fertility clinic worker Tom Lippert wouldn't have made an attractive sperm donor. He had wispy hair and a right eye that sat a quarter-inch too high on his round face. He was in poor shape. And he was a convicted felon. Now Branum thinks Lippert fathered many children against the will of unknowing couples.

Utah's same-sex newlyweds toasted at big reception • On Saturday, 63-year-old Marsha Hopkins and 67-year-old Marge Willingham shared their first dance as newlyweds at a group reception at the Rail Event Center in Salt Lake City to mark the legal marriage of more than 1,000 same-sex couples in Utah.
