OMG The Simpsons made fun of the Mormon church

The Deseret News this weekend posted an op-ed decrying "The Simpsons" for making fun of the LDS Church. There is a brief scene in Homer Goes to Prep School with a lot of people in white shirts and ties, and it involves the word "cult."

But that's not the main problem, according to writer Jim Bennett.

"Modern audiences, to their credit, refuse to tolerate ignorant slander of groups of people because of their race or religion," Bennett writes. "There is, however, at least one glaring exception."

The big exception, of course, is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is shocking to see the LDS faith singled out among the world's religions for mockery in popular culture — and ESPECIALLY on "The Simpsons," which otherwise is a beacon of politically correct religious sensitivi ...

... sorry, I couldn't get through that without laughing.
