Re Scott D. Pierce's Jan. 16 column, "CNN's blowhard chief fires back at Fox News' bombastic boss":
Pierce quotes excerpts from a book by Gabriel Sherman: " the Republican party is being run out of News Corp," aka Fox News, in an apparent effort to suggest some Fox support for Mitt Romney in the last election.
Pierce suggests that Fox News should have a motto of "The Conservative Alternative." Well guess what? To many Americans it is refreshing to have an alternative news source to the unified slant always given by the major networks. Surely it is obvious that (historically) they all rendered news and opinions in favor of the other candidate.
The liberal-leaning media try to paint Fox News as akin to the "National Enquirer," but to many viewers the networks come off like "The Gong Show." Pierce also says Fox has become more biased. No mention, however, of the leanings of the network news groups. I pity the voters who just get their news from CNN. Hooray for Fox News. It helps many to learn what Paul Harvey used to say is "the rest of the story."
