University of Utah students and other members of the community marched 1.3 miles from East High School to Kingsbury Hall on the U. campus Monday part of the university's week-long recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The march commemorated the Rev. France A. Davis Scholarship, which was established in 2008 and helps African-American students pay for college as well as giving them mentors and academic support.

Donations to the scholarship fund were accepted at the end of the march.
