A 4-year-old girl was critically injured Friday afternoon when she fell 25-30 feet from a ski lift at Brian Head Resort.

The girl was in ski school and riding the "bunny hill" lift with an 8-year-old at about 1:45 p.m. Friday when their skis became tangled, causing the younger girl to fall, said Brian Head Deputy Marshal Jared Burton.

The girl, a Las Vegas resident, landed on her feet, then fell backwards, possibly breaking her leg and also suffering a shoulder injury, Burton said, adding that she is expected to recover.

A medical helicopter was called and the girl was taken to a hospital in St. George.
