Missing elderly Midvale man found alive, well

A 75-year-old man with dementia who walked away from the family home in Midvale late Tuesday night was found safe and unharmed late Wednesday morning.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said Sam R. DeLuca, who also suffers from diabetes, was last seen about 10 p.m. Tuesday leaving his residence at 437 W. Sixth Ave. (7500 South) in Midvale for what was to be a short walk.

About 11:30 a.m. Wednesday a citizen reported seeing DeLuca, who was located by police near 8200 S. Redwood Road in West Jordan.

DeLuca was found just as UPD was organizing volunteers to conduct a sweep of Midvale for him.
