Already wanted on a drug-related warrant, a Cottonwood Heights woman was on the run Wednesday after allegedly rolling a stolen car on Interstate 215 and running away into the night.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said the crash occurred about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday on westbound I-215 near 235 West in Murray.

The driver, identified as 36-year-old Marcy Riley, eluded a search by troopers and police.

UHP said the woman had an active arrest warrant relating to third-degree felony heroin possession and class B misdemeanor marijuana and paraphernalia possession charges filed in 3rd District Court.

Royce said it was unknown what caused Riley to crash.

However, investigators said that the car she was driving had been reported as stolen earlier Tuesday by her ex-boyfriend.

"After she crashed, she exited the vehicle and ran to the north, and we got information she then got a ride to the TRAX station from an acquaintance," Royce said.

UHP anticipates filing additional charges against Riley, likely including car theft and fleeing the scene of an accident.
