A 22-year-old woman was fatally struck by a pickup truck early Tuesday morning as she crossed the intersection of Main Street and Antelope Drive in Layton.

Jessica Jones of Layton was walking southbound on the east side of the intersection when she attempted to cross at about 6:30 a.m., said Layton police Lt. Shawn Horton.

An eastbound 2013 model Ford F-150 pickup truck hit her. Initial investigation indicated that the driver had a green light at the time of the accident. Jones, who was not in a crosswalk, appeared to have been crossing against the light, Horton said.

Police also determined that Jones had been hit by at least one other eastbound vehicle, Horton said, but details on that development were not immediately released.

There was no indication that the 38-year-old Syracuse man driving the pickup was impaired. He told police that he did not see Jones in the roadway until it was too late to stop.

She was rushed to Davis Hospital and Medical Center but soon was pronounced dead, Horton said.
