What's happening to communication in America?
Americans have been decreasing our mental capacity to communicate over the years. It starts with the simple fact that English is one of the most vague languages our world has to offer. It's harder to depict ideas, feelings and other concepts than it would be in more explicit languages (e.g. German).
Sadly, the vocabulary of the average American has not only dropped significantly over the decades but it is even lower than that of some who learned English as a second language. What does not help the situation is the overuse of vulgar words substituted for much of our everyday vocabulary.
I'm only in high school, but I've needed to define words like "zealous" to fellow students. My biggest fear, however, is the declining appreciation and understanding of literature. Where will we end up if this continues? What are we to do?
