Deer Valley Resort has identified a Florida man who died of injuries after skiing into a tree.

Michael S. Leone, 65, of West Palm Beach, Fla., was skiing the Keno Run about noon Tuesday when he struck a tree, said resort spokeswoman Emily Summers on Wednesday.

The Keno Run is rated an "intermediate" skill level slope. Resort officials were still unclear on what led Leone, who was wearing a helmet, to apparently lose control of his descent.
