Letter: Don't move prison, move refineries and develop that land

Instead of moving the state prison, why don't we move the refineries? Most of the buildings at the Point of the Mountain do not need to be replaced and thousands of lives (employees and inmate families) would be disrupted by a move.

On the other hand, we have refineries that are not only an eyesore at the northern entry to the Salt Lake Valley but are also poisoning us. If Holly can dismantle a refinery in New Mexico and move it here for its expansion then let's force owners to dismantle all the refineries and move them.

If Gov. Gary Herbert's developers are itching for a new project, let them clean up North Salt Lake. Affordable housing that is a short commute to Salt Lake City makes more sense to me.
