The question of whether the NHL will continue to interrupt its season for the Olympics is an every-four-years issue, but the league's deputy commissioner said a decision about 2018 should be made within six months in conjunction with the league's players association. "The discussion is under way, so I would anticipate a quick resolution," NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly told the Olympic News Service. The players enjoy an Olympic tournament that features the best talent available to each team, as opposed to another international event. But the NHL dislikes giving up administration of the event."There are a lot of negatives that come along with the Olympics," Daly said. "The fact is we are guests here and it is not our tournament."Daly also noted that the 2018 Games in Pyeong Chang, Korea, would give the NHL access to Asia, although he added, "I do not view it as a short-term, realistic objective to make a huge impact in the Asian market."
