Saturday, Feb. 15, is the deadline for college students to apply for paid summer internships at The Salt Lake Tribune.

Already, we have dozens of applicants from students across the country looking to spend their summers reporting news under the mentorship of professional journalists.

We intend to announce and choose our summer interns by March 15.

For those unfamiliar with our internship program, here's the call for applicants that first went out in January:

The Salt Lake Tribune has a paid summer internship program that places interns in our newsroom full time for 10 weeks each summer, working in a variety of different roles based on interests and ability. The start and end dates of the 10-week period are flexible but the internship generally begins in early June and ends in mid-August. Pay is $500 per week. Interns are expected to have their own transportation and to find housing during the internship.

To apply, send a resume, cover letter and examples of your work by Feb. 15, 2014, to The Salt Lake Tribune, Attn: Lisa Carricaburu, managing editor, 90 S. 400 West, Suite 700, Salt Lake City, UT, 84101. You also may e-mail your application to lisac@sltrib.com.

Be sure to state whether you're most interested in a reporting/writing, photography or multimedia internship.

We will choose and notify interns by March 15.
