The potential Olympic development that BYU student Kate Hansen described as "un-freakin'-believable" actually occurred Tuesday night. U.S. teammate Erin Hamlin of New York finished third in the women's event at the Sanki Sliding Center in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia, earning the first women's (or men's) individual medal in U.S. luge history. Hansen, who's from the Los Angeles area, maintained her 10th-place status over the final two runs, resulting in a satisfying finish. After Monday's two runs, she said a top-10 result would be "more than I ever dreamed of."
