Unified Police on Wednesday identified a child who died after a large television set fell and crushed him inside a Magna home.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said 2-year-old Samuela Kauvaka died at Primary Children's Hospital about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, three hours after his grandparents heard a thud in the living room and found the child underneath an older-model, 32-inch tube-style TV.

Paramedics responded to the home near 2600 S. 8850 West and rushed the boy to Intermountain Medical Center, from where he was later flown to Primary Children's Hospital.

While the incident remained under investigation, it appeared to have been a tragic accident.
