Letter: It's time families paid for kids' education

Utah is a state that places great value on large families. The people with large families provide food, clothing, housing and entertainment for their children.

Considering this I find it odd that they expect someone else to pay to educate their children ("Senate panel OKs bill requiring big families to pay more for schools," Tribune, Feb. 10). Everyone knows that Utah is dead last in the nation in education spending. SB118 would be a step in the right direction in an effort to reverse this statistic.

It would mean that individuals with large families would finally start paying an appropriate amount for the education of their children. I urge the Legislature to finally step up to the plate and pass legislation that would really favor our education system.
