Olympics: Pikus-Pace says 'concussion' was wrong word

Skeleton silver medalist Noelle Pikus-Pace of Eagle Mountain enjoyed her celebration Friday night, complete with a chocolate, cream-filled cake. But while expressing more joy during a U.S. Olympic Committee news conference Saturday, she tried to clarify some of her remarks from the postrace interview. "I did not have a concussion," she said. "I apologize for throwing out that word."Pikus-Pace acknowledged experiencing dizziness and blurred vision last week, but said an MRI exam cleared her. "When I was competing, I felt absolutely great," she said. She also expressed surprise about how she felt, after all of the emotional buildup to her final race. That performance is "just a memory now," she said. "It just comes and goes."Yet the satisfaction of the medal-winning effort is "more than I ever would have imagined," she said. "I didn't think that was possible."
