Utes win to split series with Sacramento State

The University of Utah baseball team defeated host Sacramento State 5-4 on Monday, salvaging a split in the four-game series.

Utah pitcher Bret Helton earned his first career victory in his first start, holding the Hornets to two runs on three hits over six innings.

Cory Hunt and Konnor Armijo each had two hits for the Utes (2-2), while Hunt and Kody Davis each had two RBIs. Biss Larsen hit a one-out double to spark a three-run rally in the second inning.

Kansas 10, BYU 1 • In Peoria, Ariz., McKay Connor hit his second home run of the series as the Jayhawks beat the Cougars to complete a four-game sweep. Kelton Caldwell drove in BYU's only run with an eighth-inning single.
