Ogden firefighters were able to rescue two people and keep an early Wednesday morning fire limited to a single unit of a four-unit apartment complex.

Ogden Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bauman said the 3:33 a.m. blaze at 638 N. Evergreen Way was contained to the front porch and outside wall of the second-story unit where it began.

Firefighters arrived to find that two of the four occupants of the affected apartment were still inside the smoke-filled unit, but they were able to help them get out safely.

"All four occupants were medically evaluated by [paramedics] and did not require transport to local hospitals," Bauman said.

The Ogden City Fire Marshal's Office was investigating the cause of the blaze.

Initial damages were estimated at $10,000.

No injuries were reported.
