State colleges: USU women defeat SDSU 79-69

Jennifer Schlott scored 33 points and handed out seven assists, leading the Utah State women's basketball team to a 79-69 victory over San Diego State on Wednesday night.

Schlott made four 3-pointers and was 11-for-15 from the free-throw line. Makenlee Williams added 19 points and Franny Vaaulu scored 12 for the Aggies, who improved to 11-14 overall, 5-9 in the Mountain West. Stephanie Bairstow grabbed nine points to go along with nine rebounds.

Utah State was up 44-33 at halftime and led by as much as 14 points in the second. The Aggies also scored 27 points off of 21 Aztec turnovers.

Cierra Warren led San Diego State with 17 points, followed by Chloe Johnson with 13 points, Danesha Long with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Khristina Hunter with 10 points and 13 boards. The Aztecs fell to 9-14, 6-7.

Utah State next plays at Fresno State on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Utah 4, BYU 3 • The Utes swept doubles play and got singles victories from Sarah Pham, Callie Craig and Sarah Richter to clinch the victory at home.
