Utah forecast: Calmer, somewhat warmer weat..

After enduring a windy, wintry mid-week storm, northern Utah looked for calmer weather heading into the end of this week.

Along the Wasatch Front's valleys, partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid- to upper-40s — along with a chance for light, overnight snow — was forecast for Friday, a similar prediction as that the National Weather Service issued for the region on Thursday.

Intermittent and light snow showers were more of a certainty, however, for the northern Wasatch Front's mountains both Thursday and Friday.

Southern Utahns looked for a sunny Thursday to give way to partly cloudy skies on Friday with winds of 10-20 mph wafting daytime highs in the low-60s through Utah's Dixie.

The Utah Avalanche Center rated the Uintas as "high" for potentially deadly backcountry snowslides with the remainder of the state's mountains earning "considerable" avalanche risk ratings.
