Memo to Salt Lake City School District:
• If you screw up, admit it.
• Say you're sorry.
• Explain how you'll fix it.
• Include your PR person in your deliberations.
Don't hide your head in the sand hoping the media won't come your way. Call them first and tell them what happened. It works every time and doesn't require a $49,000 public relations contract ("After tossed lunches, Utah district eyes $49,999 PR hire," Tribune, Feb. 19).
