Utah forecast: Dry and warmer in valleys, some rain and snow in mountains

A partly cloudy but generally dry weekend is ahead for northern Utah's valleys, while the region's mountains expected a mix of gusty rain and snow.

High temperatures Saturday in the Salt Lake Tooele valleys were to climb into the low-50s, about the same as forecast for Friday. Highs a bit further north, in the Logan and Ogden valleys, were expected to range into the 40s.

Southern Utahns had partly cloudy, yet dry skies on their horizon this weekend with highs in the low- to mid-60s.

The Utah Division of Air Quality hoisted "green," or healthy air condition banners statewide.

The Utah Avalanche Center rated the Uintas as "high" for the risk of potentially deadly snowslides while the rest of the state's mountains rated "considerable" risk assessments.
