A 33-year-old Salt Lake City man was behind bars Friday on suspicion of multiple felony misdemeanor charges after he allegedly fled an attempted traffic stop, crashed into a car and then tried to run away.
Police say that when an officer attempted to pull the suspect over for speeding, he accelerated through a red light at 900 West and 1700 South about 4:45 p.m. Thursday and collided with another vehicle. The suspect then jumped from the car and attempted to flee on foot, but was captured a short distance away, police said.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect was being held in lieu of nearly $10,000 bail on suspicion of third-degree felony fleeing and causing an accident and failure to stop for a police officer, as well as numerous misdemeanors ranging from speeding and driving on a revoked license to hit and run and resisting arrest.
