Even before knowing that U.S. skiing star Lindsey Vonn would miss the Olympics with a knee injury, 1998 gold medalist Picabo Street pointed to Mikaela Shiffrin as "the most intriguing thing" about the skiing competition in the 2014 Games.Street, speaking during the Road to Sochi Tour stop at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns last month, cited Shiffrin's maturity at age 18. "She really has a head on her shoulders like I haven't seen," Street said. "She's very strategic. She's a total planner."Shiffin won the women's slalom event, her strongest discipline, Friday night. She finished fifth in Tuesday's giant slalom.
