Granite district using military M-16s to defend schools • The chief of the Granite School District Police Department, has issued AR-15 rifles to 12 of his full-time officers. Johnson and two sergeants have something similar — M-16 rifles from a government program that gives military surplus to state and local police.

LGBT Mormons share their struggles • At the annual Circling the Wagons conference Saturday at Wasatch Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake City featured talks and panel discussions for LGBT Mormons, family members and friends who shared stories about the struggles endured by many active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when measuring those religious beliefs and upbringing against their same-sex attraction.
