The Davis County Health Department and the Davis School District are hosting two seminars to raise awareness about radon, an invisible gas that can accumulate in any home. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates radon causes 22,000 lung cancer deaths a year.

The seminars, which will cover how radon exposure can be prevented, are scheduled for Wednesday in Northridge High School's auditorium, 2430 N. Hillfield Road in Layton, and March 4 in Bountiful High School's auditorium, 695 Orchard Drive, Bountiful. Both will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Eleanor Divver, the indoor radon coordinator for the state of Utah, is the presenter. A drawing for 25 free, do-it-yourself home radon test kits will be held at each seminar.
