An early Wednesday morning fire forced a Taylorsville family of three to find a new place to live until repairs are made to their home.
Unified Fire Battalion Chief Brian Anderton said firefighters rushed to the blaze at 4271 S. Rupp Court (2250 West) about 2:40 a.m. They found flames and smoke pouring from the home's basement.
The flames were quickly extinguished, being contained to one room, but smoke damage escalated the overall losses to an estimated $25,000 to 30,000.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, but it was believed to be accidental and electrical in origin.
Anderton said the family, awakened by the home's smoke alarms, was able to escape unharmed.
He was uncertain what housing arrangements the family had made.
